Crypto Airdrops This Week: August 14, 2026 UK Edition

Verified crypto airdrops active this week in the UK — dappOS Phase 1, Grass Season 2 USDC rewards, Plume Network and AIW3. HMRC tax rules explained.

Something landed in thousands of crypto wallets this week that most people missed. Phase 1 of the dappOS airdrop went live on 10 August, Grass Season 2 rewards are still unclaimed by a huge chunk of eligible participants, and a wave of copycat phishing sites is targeting anyone searching for claim portals. If you’ve been earning points, running nodes, or keeping an eye on promising protocols, this is your prompt to check what you’re owed.

dappOS Phase 1 Is Live — DON’T Miss the Window

dappOS launched the Phase 1 claim for its DOS token on 10 August 2026. The project operates as an intent-based infrastructure layer for Web3 applications, and it built its user base through a points programme running since early 2026. Registration closed on 2 August, so eligibility is fixed — but if you signed up before that date, your tokens are now claimable.

The total supply sits at 1 billion DOS, with 6% reserved for the airdrop. That’s 60 million tokens distributed across eligible wallets. When I looked into the claim mechanics, the process is straightforward: connect your wallet on dappos.com/airdrop only. The project has explicitly warned against third-party links, and fake portals with near-identical domain names are already appearing. Don’t click anything that arrives in your DMs or email claiming to be the claim page.

Binance users get a separate parallel distribution through Binance Alpha, so if you’re on that platform, check your Alpha rewards panel rather than the main site. KuCoin and Biconomy both listed DOS/USDT pairs on 11 August, which gives you immediate off-ramp options once you’ve claimed your tokens.

No UK geo-block has been reported on dappOS. HMRC will treat your DOS tokens as miscellaneous income at the sterling value on the date you receive them — the standard treatment for activity-based airdrops. Keep a record of the token price on claim day; you’ll need it at self-assessment time.

Grass Season 2: Six Months to Claim Your USDC — Deadline 22 January

Grass Season 2 USDC rewards have been live since 22 July 2026. The claim window runs for exactly six months, making the deadline 22 January 2027. After that, any unclaimed rewards are forfeited permanently. There’s no immediate panic, but forgetting about it until December is a real risk worth guarding against — set a reminder now.

The reward rate is $0.0049 USDC per Network Point accumulated across Epochs 1 to 19. That coverage period ran from 14 October 2024 through to 8 June 2026. If you were running Grass bandwidth-sharing at any point during that window, you should have points. App-based participation earned 5–10 times the point rate compared to browser-only use, so heavy app users will see notably larger payouts.

Claim at app.grass.io/dashboard. Anti-Sybil checks were applied before the window opened, so multi-wallet farming was filtered out. If you participated with a single wallet legitimately, your allocation is waiting. Connect the same wallet you used during the earning period and it should appear immediately.

Grass operates as a bandwidth-sharing network rather than a regulated financial product, which keeps it outside FCA oversight — but HMRC still treats the USDC you receive as income. The sterling value on the day you claim goes into your self-assessment as miscellaneous income for this tax year. The £3,000 annual capital gains exemption doesn’t reduce this; that only applies when you later sell the tokens and realise a gain above your base cost.

Plume Network Season 2: The Deadline Is “August 2026” — Check Today

Plume Network’s Season 2 airdrop has been claimable since early June, and the deadline is described only as “August 2026” with no exact date confirmed in any official announcement. That vagueness is itself a problem — it could close any day. Around 150 million PLUME tokens are in the Season 2 pool, with typical payouts between $3 and $58 depending on leaderboard position and total points accumulated.

Eligibility required at least 10,000 Plume Points by the snapshot date of 27 May 2026. New eligibility is closed. If you hit that threshold, claim at claim-pp.plume.org right now rather than waiting. If you never reached 10,000 points or missed the snapshot entirely, this one is finished for you. Nothing to do.

AIW3 Genesis Airdrop: Claiming Opened 3 August on Solana and BNB Chain

AIW3 is a prediction markets and AI-driven trading platform built on Solana and BNB Chain. The project ran a points-based campaign up to a snapshot on 28 July 2026. Eligibility checks went live the following day, and the token generation event — with the start of actual claims — happened on 3 August.

Points came from daily check-ins, community tasks, publishing trading strategies, referrals, and actual trading volume on the platform. Anti-Sybil enforcement was strict: multi-account farmers were zeroed out and banned outright, not just penalised. If you participated legitimately with a single wallet, your allocation is available at aiw3.ai.

One detail I couldn’t pin down is a published conversion rate from points to tokens. You’ll need to connect your wallet to see your exact allocation. AIW3 also continues monthly airdrops for active platform participants after TGE, so staying engaged has ongoing value if you want to keep earning.

UK investors keep asking about campaigns like this because the “participate and earn tokens” model sounds too clean. AIW3 looks legitimate based on the sources I checked, but the trading-volume tasks involve real capital and real loss risk. HMRC will treat any tokens received as miscellaneous income at the point of receipt. Keep your records from day one.

MoonPay’s Ongoing Campaign: FCA-Registered and Open to UK Users

MoonPay is running an ongoing rewards campaign confirmed on airdrops.io’s verified list. Participation involves signing up, connecting a PayBox, and linking your X account — low friction and no capital required. MoonPay holds FCA registration number 902801 as a cryptoasset business in the UK, making it one of the very few airdrop-adjacent platforms with any regulatory standing here.

Specific token allocation details haven’t been formally announced by MoonPay yet, so treat this one as partially confirmed. The campaign is live and accessible from the UK, but full claim mechanics should be announced before distribution opens. Worth signing up while eligibility is open.

The XRP Fake Airdrop Campaign Is the Biggest Scam Running Right Now

On 6 August, the XRP Ledger Foundation posted a warning on X that has since circulated widely. Fraudsters are running a mass impersonation campaign using fake X accounts with stolen XRPL branding and pushing links to a site called the “XRP Rewards Scanner.” The pitch is that it scans for unclaimed XRP. The reality is that connecting your wallet and approving the prompted transaction drains your funds instantly.

The XRPL Foundation stated clearly: there are no official XRP airdrops from the Foundation, from Ripple, or from any community wallet. Not now, not pending, not recently completed. Zero. The Foundation reported more than 20 fake X accounts and 10 fake domains appearing every day at the peak of the campaign. If anyone sends you an XRP airdrop link — any link — it’s a scam.

This attack style is called a wallet drainer. Sector-wide losses to drainers fell to $83.85 million in 2025 from $494 million the year before — because people got more careful, not because attackers stopped. The XRP campaign this week shows the threat is still very much active. Read our airdrop scams guide before connecting your wallet to any claim site, no matter how legitimate it looks.

FCA Warnings UK Readers Need to Know Before Claiming

The FCA received roughly 4,400 reports of fake FCA impersonation scams in the first half of 2025 alone. The pattern is consistent: a caller or message claims the FCA has recovered cryptocurrency opened illegally in your name and asks you to deposit money to release it. The FCA doesn’t work like this. It will never ask you to transfer money, share a wallet seed phrase, or create a new crypto account to recover anything.

The FCA also holds a public notice against the Solana-based meme coin Retardio for promoting financial services in the UK without authorisation. Pump.fun — the Solana meme coin launchpad — is blocked for UK users following a separate FCA action. Neither carries FSCS protection or access to the Financial Ombudsman Service. Check the UK airdrop guide for an overview of how to assess whether a platform has any regulatory standing before you engage.

Action Fraud logged 203 cryptocurrency investment fraud reports in June and July 2026 with total losses of £2,059,501. Average loss per victim: £10,095. Cold calls and social media adverts were the most common routes in.

How UK Tax Works on Airdropped Tokens

HMRC draws a clear line between two types of airdrop. If you received tokens in exchange for any activity — running a node, completing tasks, sharing bandwidth, trading on a platform — those tokens count as miscellaneous income at their market value in pounds on the date of receipt. That income goes into your self-assessment return for the tax year you received the tokens.

If tokens arrived with no conditions whatsoever — no tasks, no eligibility criteria, just sent to your wallet — HMRC may instead treat them as a capital asset. No tax on receipt in that case, but capital gains apply when you sell. Most of this week’s campaigns (dappOS, Grass, AIW3) involve clear activity requirements, so the income treatment applies.

The annual capital gains exemption is £3,000 for 2026–27. That applies to gains when you sell tokens above their cost basis — not to the income element at the point of receipt. Two separate tax events, two separate calculations. Keep a record of the sterling value on the date you claim, and the sterling value when you eventually sell. Both figures will matter at tax time.

What This Means for UK Readers

Three active claims this week — dappOS, Grass, and AIW3 — are accessible from the UK without geo-restrictions. Plume Network has an uncertain deadline, so check immediately if you were eligible before the May snapshot. The XRP fake airdrop campaign is the most dangerous active scam in the sector right now — connecting a wallet to the wrong site is irreversible in seconds.

Before claiming anything, verify the URL directly from the project’s official X account or verified site. Run through the seven red flags if you have any doubt. And treat every activity-based airdrop as income in the tax year you receive it — not when you sell.
