Crypto.com Review 2026: Is the Visa Card Still Worth It for UK Users?
Crypto.com offers a Visa card with crypto cashback rewards. Our 2026 review covers whether the card, exchange, and staking tiers are still worth the CRO stake r
Crypto.com is one of the most recognised crypto brands in the UK and globally, built largely on its Visa card product that offers cashback rewards paid in CRO — the platform’s native token. In 2026, the exchange has evolved significantly from its card-led origins to offer a comprehensive trading, staking, and DeFi platform. This review examines whether Crypto.com remains a good choice for UK users.
The Crypto.com Visa Card
The Crypto.com Visa card remains the platform’s flagship product and the main reason most UK users join. The card tiers range from the free “Midnight Blue” card with no cashback to the “Obsidian” card with 8% cashback on spending — but upper tiers require staking increasingly large amounts of CRO for 180 days.
The card tiers and their requirements in 2026:
- Midnight Blue: Free, no CRO stake, no cashback
- Ruby Steel: Stake £325 worth of CRO, 2% cashback on spending
- Royal Indigo/Jade Green: Stake £3,200 worth of CRO, 3% cashback plus Netflix/Spotify rebates
- Frosted Rose Gold/Icy White: Stake £30,000 worth of CRO, 5% cashback plus airport lounge access
- Obsidian: Stake £300,000 worth of CRO, 8% cashback plus premium perks
The catch is obvious: you’re staking a significant amount of CRO (which fluctuates in value) to earn cashback on everyday spending. If CRO falls in value during your stake period, the cashback returns may not offset the capital loss on the stake itself.
Is the Card Worth It?
The Ruby Steel tier (£325 CRO stake, 2% cashback) is the most accessible entry point and worth considering if you believe CRO will hold or appreciate in value. For a UK user spending £2,000 per month, 2% cashback generates £40 per month — £480 per year. If CRO holds its value, that’s a meaningful return on the stake.
Higher tiers require very large CRO commitments and only make financial sense if you have both significant spending volumes and conviction in CRO’s price. The streaming service rebates (Netflix, Spotify) at mid-tiers are a real benefit but don’t justify the stake on their own.
Exchange and Trading
Crypto.com’s exchange offers spot trading with competitive fees: 0.075% for makers and 0.075% for takers at standard tier, with discounts for high volume or CRO staking. This compares favourably with Coinbase (which charges significantly more) but is broadly in line with Kraken and Binance.
The selection of cryptocurrencies is broad — over 350 assets available. The platform also offers derivatives trading, DeFi wallet features, and an NFT marketplace, though these are not the platform’s core strengths.
FCA Registration
Crypto.com is registered with the FCA under the UK’s anti-money laundering regime, which means it meets basic AML and KYC standards required for UK crypto businesses. This is meaningful — it’s better than an unregistered offshore exchange — but it does not mean full FCA authorisation under the upcoming comprehensive crypto regulatory regime.
Security and Track Record
Crypto.com suffered a notable security incident in January 2022 when approximately $34 million was stolen. The company reimbursed all affected users. Since then, Crypto.com has invested significantly in security infrastructure including a proof-of-reserves programme and third-party security audits.
Verdict
Crypto.com remains a solid platform for UK users who want an all-in-one crypto experience with a Visa card. The Ruby Steel tier offers genuine value for regular spenders who are comfortable holding some CRO. The exchange fees are competitive and the platform is FCA-registered for AML purposes.
The main risk is CRO price exposure. Your stake is in CRO, which can and does fall significantly in value. Factor this into your assessment — the cashback rewards look less attractive if the stake loses 30-40% of its value.
Verify Crypto.com’s registration at the FCA Financial Services Register before depositing funds.
